Ampersand Opimus features a mash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley, aged for 15 years before undergoing a 9-month finish in Tokaji casks from Hungary. The bourbon is bottled at cask strength, coming in at 117 proof (58.4% ABV). 
Flavor Profile
The Tokaji cask finish imparts distinctive characteristics to this bourbon, with tasting notes dominated by dark red fruits including raspberry, cranberry, pomegranate, blood orange, apricot, and grape. The palate delivers moderately sweet flavors with tannins, dark stone fruits like cherries and plums, tart citrus, sweet dried apricots, and dark caramel. The finish features moderate black pepper spice, increasingly dry tannins, subtle orange citrus, mild char, sweet oak, and lingering stone fruits with deep warmth.
Production Details
The bourbon is sourced from an undisclosed Kentucky distillery and bottled at Minden Mill Distillery in Nevada. About 11,500 bottles of Opimus were released in the initial production run. The name “Opimus” is Latin for “rich” or “abundant,” reflecting the whiskey’s bold and complex character.
